Meet Guillaume Morin, Certified Mitsubishi Master Triple Diamond Mechanic

Guillaume Morin is a mechanic at HGregoire Mitsubishi. He is one of the 6 Mitsubishi Master Triple Diamond certified mechanics in Canada.

What is the Triple Diamond Master certificate?

There are 4 steps to Mitsubishi mechanic formations. Diamond, Double Diamond, Triple Diamond and Master Triple Diamond.

The higher the step, the more complex the systems studied are in the formations. 30 technical courses (practical) are required to earn the Master Triple Diamond level, followed by an annual knowledge review training each year to keep the title active.

How many years did it take you to obtain your certificate?

Having started my training in 2006, I obtained the Master Triple Diamond certification in 2016, in 10 years. At the moment, there are only 6 of these technicians in Canada, including 3 in Quebec.

Why did you choose Mitsubishi?

Having previously worked for other Japanese car companies (Honda, Mazda), I was motivated by Mitsubishi’s forward thinking, electric vehicle technology, turbo systems and their experience in rally racing. After 13 years working at Mitsubishi, I still think it’s among one of the most reliable brands, interesting to repair and easy to maintain. Even though it’s the youngest car brand in Canada, it’s the one with the highest annual growth rate (7% in 2017).

What are you most passionate about in your work?

Solving technical problems and knowing that a job has been done well. I love repairing and rebuilding engines and transmissions, and do diagnoses of electrical systems. I am passionate about all the technical challenges! I also like to convey the information to the customers and to see in their eyes the recognition of a good after-sales service.

Since when do you work in the automotive field?

Since 2006, it’s been 15 years.

What was your first car?

It was a Honda CRX 1989.
